Medical and Scientific Research Background
During her medical studies at the Universities of Marburg and Heidelberg, Frau Dr. Wengenroth also completed training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and high-frequency therapy.
She did the experimental part of her doctoral thesis at the University of Cambridge (UK) on the molecular genetic basis of psychiatric diseases. With her research group she was able to show that schizophrenia and bipolar depression are metabolic disorders of the brain that can also be detected in other organs.
Fascinated by the applied neurosciences, Dr. Wengenroth completed her medical specialist training in the departments of neuroradiology, neurooncology and radiology in Heidelberg, Hamburg and Munich. Her neuroscientific focus is on functional imaging (fMRI), mainly used in psychiatry (e.g. schizophrenia), in certain genetic diseases (e.g. Williams-Beuren syndrome) and in the human speech and hearing system (tinnitus, absolute pitch, basics of musical and artistic talent, etc.). Dr. Martina Wengenroth published her scientific results in numerous international journals and books.
The vision of the impilo® health centre is to bring people on their way to healing and equips them with tailor-made and functioning tools. In addition to personal responsibility for maintaining health, targeted support measures such as small group counseling, cooking courses etc. are also taught.
At the same time, Dr. Wengenroth is very interested in accompanying the treatment methods scientifically and statistically evaluating treatment effects. In addition, she trains other therapists in complementary treatment methods in order to make them accessible to a broad public and to integrate them into the existing health system on a long-term basis.
