Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) affects about 15% of the European population.
MCAS patients present with mostly chronic allergic/ hypersensitive or inflammatory/ autoimmune types of symptoms.
Additional symptoms might include chronic pain, (food) intolerances and irritable bowel syndrome, bleeding tendency, neuropsychiatric abnormalities such as depression, chronic fatigue and panic disorders. Additionally urogenital, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and oral/dental problems may occur. Children may also be affected. Despite its high incidence, MCAS is still rarely recognized and diagnosed.
In this impilo® symposium we present causes, diagnosic possibilities and treatment concepts of MCAS. Physicians, dentists, pharmacists and therapists of all disciplines who would like to understand the complexity of their "complicated patients“ are invited to participate.
